Montclair State University

The Center for Community Engagement at Montclair State University, together with the NJ Commission on National and Community Service and other institutions and organizations, have established the New Jersey COVID-19 Service Corps (NJCSC), which works to expand critical public health services during the pandemic and supporting the education of professionals in these fields.

The Carpe Diem Award is awarded to graduating seniors with a 3.3 GPA or above who exemplify what it means to be a Montclair State University Student Leader. The Carpe Diem Award is the highest award presented to students.

Recipients are selected by class year based upon campus involvement, academics and leadership, and must have a 2.75 GPA or above.

Montclair State University held Commencement ceremonies to celebrate undergraduate and graduate students who completed their academic degrees in August 2020, December 2020, January 2021 and May 2021.

Montclair State University congratulates Red Hawks named to the Spring 2021 Dean's List. The Dean's List, issued after the close of the Fall and Spring semesters by the academic deans, gives recognition to students with a 3.50 or higher semester GPA if a minimum of 12 credits is earned in courses that contribute to the GPA and if there are no incomplete grades for that semester.

The Montclair State field hockey team once again excelled not only on the field but also in the classroom and were rewarded for that as the University had 17 players chosen to the 2020 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic Squad.

Montclair State has enlisted students to become Community Health Ambassadors to teach their peers about our COVID-19 safety guidelines. The Ambassadors are strategically stationed across campus to encourage other students to wear face coverings, practice social distancing, and do all the things that are helping keep our campus community safe.

Amanda "Ducky" Quesada became a sister of the Phi Sigma Sigma sorority in Fall 2010. She lit up the room with her smile and had the biggest heart. She was diagnosed with Primary Pulmonary Hypertension when she was one. PPH is a rare lung disease which leads to the narrowing of the blood vessels of the lungs. Doctors had told her that she was not expected to live past the age of 10, but Amanda was a fighter and she proved them all wrong. Her dream was to attend college and she always had her heart set on attending Montclair State University, even as a young child. She pursued that dream and became the first person in her family to attend college. Unfortunately, Amanda passed away on July 22nd, 2014 at the age of 22. Amanda was an integral part of Montclair State's campus community. She had such an amazing passion for our school and demonstrated school pride like none other. She truly touched the lives of everyone she met and left a lasting impression on them. The "Amanda Quesada Memorial Scholarship" is to be awarded to a student who demonstrates unbelievable school spirit and has given back to the community by participating in volunteer work and philanthropic endeavors.

This scholarship is intended for non-traditional or veteran students.

This award is intended for full-time students who have maintained a high standard of excellence in their academic endeavors. Awards are based on academic achievement, campus community involvement, and leadership experience.

This award is intended for students who are residents and have demonstrated a great amount of Red Hawk Pride.

This award is intended for freshmen who have shown campus involvement and exhibited excellence in leadership while maintaining academic excellence.

This award is intended for students who are commuters and have demonstrated a great amount of Red Hawk Pride.

This award is in recognition of Dr. Edward Martin, former Dean of Students at Montclair State University. Award is based on excellence in leadership and dedication to bettering and serving the campus community.

This award is dedicated to the memory of Eby Ohamadike and intended for students who have dedicated time and effort in educating the campus community on cultural diversity and pride in their particular culture background. In addition, the recipient must have exhibited a desire to bring different sects of campus together in celebration of collective heritage.

The scholarship is intended for students who have maintained a high standard of excellence in their academic endeavors while committing time to either a SGA Executive, Legislative, or Judicial Branch or a SGA chartered organization. Awards are based on the quality of service and academic achievement.
